Towards Economic Development: A Humble Endeavour |

The backdrop As it may seem, it is rather odd to draw some relation between academic activity and economic development in which it purport, with the help of the former the latter can be brought about. As a matter of fact, what is implied is, not ‘economic development’ in its physical sense or in terms of any indicator, instead the concept of economic development that lies in theoretical plane and that too from a critical view point. Now the relationship mentioned between academic activity and economic development makes some sense. The argument that (Robertson:1985) at advanced graduate level seminars both the teacher and the student in tandem tries to discover truth amply points out that teaching can contribute immensely to the enrichment of knowledge. |
Apart from that , the fact that majority of economists who got Nobel prize are scientists who actively engage in teaching also under grids this. By taking the cue out of these, I dared to mention about the role of academic activity in re-defining economic development. Furthermore, being a teacher of higher education who zeros in upon the economic relationship between facts, I have a strong conviction that my contribution would not have been more had I chosen any other profession than that of this as any small contribution to the idea of economic development would brought about a more than proportionate effect.........(Read More) |
